www.missrepgirlfesthawaii2.eventbrite.comWritten and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

From all different walks of life, these women vary in age, size, ethnic backgrounds, careers, families, cultures, and life experiences. Though each individual is unique in their own way, all share one common passion, belly dance. The common bond that these women share develops into a sisterhood that enables each woman to express her sensuality and femininity through artistic expression.
